* Bling *

I haven't been sleeping well for about the last month, (so so tired!) so I went to see the doctor today. She gave me a prescription for sleeping pills, so we'll see if that helps.

This afternoon, Cindy and I made a trip to the thrift store, and I spent more than I wanted to spend. But...look what I found!! They had lots of bling today! I could have just kept pulling out more and more...but I had to control myself. Darn!

I found pretty earrings...

and pretty pins...

even some pretty shoe bling!

I also found this cute little vase, and a couple of plates to break, for the roses around the edge. It was a good shopping trip! Thanks for dragging me out Cindy. I always have fun shopping with you.

I'm Stripping!!

Wallpaper that is. When I got up this morning, I decided that I'd better get busy if this job is going to get done. So, I've spent alot of the day stripping!

When I had a large portion of one wall done, Drew held the new wallpaper up to the wall so I could stand back and look at it. OMGoodness!!! I love the new paper!! Can't wait to get it on the walls.

Shopping Day

Drew and I had a fun day today. We did some shopping, and then tried out a new chinese restaurant in our area. Yum!! Anyway, after ALOT of thinking, and looking at ALOT of wallpaper, I finally made my decision. I got this pretty rose wallpaper to put below the chair railing, green paint for the kitchen island, and white for the rest of the cabinets.
Now, I just have to get my butt in gear and start taking down the old wallpaper, sanding cabinets, and putting up the new stuff!! No sweat! :

Favorite Things Friday

I saw this idea on another blog, and thought it sounded like fun. So every Friday, I will show you some of my favorite things.

Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

Enjoy Everything

Dream big, work harder.
Have lots of fun, lift a finger,
do something for someone else.
Cheer your friends on.
Cheer yourself up.
Celebrate as much as possible.
Enjoy everything. Right now.
It's okay to want more and do more
but be present where you are
or who you are with.
Don't rush the situation-
even if it's bad.
Move on when you can.
Don't settle.
Try everything you can
and get over everything holding you back.

Just an Ordinary Day

Another exciting day here! Still not sleeping good, so draggin' my butt all day long. I did schedule an appointment with the doctor for next week, so hopefully, the problem will be fixed. I don't know how much longer I can go with lousy sleep. I've got so much to do, and it's just adding up.

Drew came home from work early today, and we took the babies to the vet for their yearly checkup and shots. They love going to the vet! Everything checked out good. Sugar weighs a slim 60 lbs. and Molly is a petite 93 lbs.

Tonight, I'm working on my fall wreath for the front door...will take a pic when I'm finished. I've got to get on the ball here and get my decorating done! Gotta go finish the dinner dishes, I've put it off as long as I can.

'Remote-ly' Busy

Well, this picture pretty much sums up what my day has been like. I've been so tired today that I had only enough energy to work the remote! :) Tomorrow will be better!

Life in my Studio

When we got home from the cabin yesterday, there was a package waiting for me from Heather at Pretty Petals. I ordered these pretty ribbons and vintage style labels...and they are so pretty, I couldn't wait to use them.

So, I added one to this little bottle I had done while at the cabin.

This afternoon, I suddenly had a craving for bread pudding. I rarely make dessert to have after dinner, but this is one of my favorite fall desserts. I don't know what it is about that wonderful fall air that makes me want this poor man's pudding...but it happens every fall. I don't usually add anything to it, but today, I decided to add walnuts and coconut. Yum!!
When I started this blog, and decided to call it Life in my Studio, I really liked the name. But, I've been thinking about it for awhile now, and wondering if maybe that wasn't the best name for it, since I want to also include things happening outside of my studio.
Then, I remembered this quote I had read in Ali Edwards' latest book, Life Artist.
Life is the supreme creative act. We are always choosing, shaping, improvising, with what arises around us. The more we accept what is happening and let go of what we think should be happening or what we want to happen, the more free and alive we become. -- Jennifer Louden
Then, I started thinking about what a studio is...a place to create. Isn't that what we do everyday? Everything we do or say, is a part of creating our lives, and who we are. So, in essence, the world is our studio.
After thinking about that way, I decided to keep my blog name.
Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can. --Danny Kaye

I Love Fall

We had a pretty good weekend at the cabin. Drew did cement work in the basement, and I sat on my butt! :)
We had a little bit of rain on Saturday, but other than that, the weather was gorgeous. This is my absolute FAVorite time of the year. I love the cool, crisp fall air!
I found these pretty strawberries at Walmart and took them to the cabin...so I could eat them while sitting on my butt! :)

Check out the moon peeking through the trees. Don't you think it looks haunting?
Here are some more random pics from the cabin.

I did actually work on a couple of little projects while we were at the cabin. I haven't quite got them finished...when I do, I'll post some pictures.
For now, I'm just glad to be back home. I love going to the cabin, but I always miss home. I think this week I'm going to do some cleaning, some painting, and some playing.

Takin' Off Again

We're heading out the door for the cabin...again. Can't stay and talk...Molly's waiting! Be back on Sunday.

Just Another Day

Tonight, Drew and I went to a meeting in this beautiful old building (the City/County bldg) in downtown Salt Lake. It was for the Homeowner's Assoc. that our cabin is located in. So...I'm going to be on an advisory board now. I think it will be interesting!
Not much else going on right now...it's 10:30 and I haven't had any dinner yet, so I think I'm going to sit in front of the tv with some spaghetti.

Seed Bin

I finally got my seed bin finished! I'm loving it in pink, although it looks alot brighter pink, in this picture, than it does in my room.

Feeling Old!

I'm feeling old and tired today. And looking at these pages doesn't help. These babies are all adults now, and they are my children!
It's really depressing to get old...I think tomorrow I need a dose of shopping to snap me out of this! lol

Fall is Here!

We're back from our weekend at the cabin, and it was a nice, lazy couple of days. For me anyway, Drew spent the weekend working in the basement. As you can see, the leaves are starting to turn. I just love this time of year. The air is crisp and cool, and the colors are so warm and vibrant.
These are views from our front deck, across the canyon.

I need to finish my fall decorating. Actually, I've barely begun, so I need to get it in gear!

Check it Out!

My cute seed bin came today! I'm so excited, I couldn't wait to put some flowers in it! Now I need to dress it up and find a permenant home for it.
Drew and I are going to the cabin tonight...so I'll be gone for the weekend. Since fall is coming, our days at the cabin for this year are numbered. Not much longer, and it will be time to close it for the season.

Scrappin' Day

Spent some time today scrapbooking. I got this cute little chipboard binder by Maya Road, and decided to use it for the pics taken at our sister cabin retreat, May of last year. This was a fun project, I may have to get some more of these cute little binders.
I love our sister retreats, we always have such a good time. Cindy, Becky, Cheri, and I, spent the weekend at our cabin in Midway. We pretty much just hang out playing games, watching movies, munching, and being silly. The only thing that would make our retreats better, is if Tracie and Lori could also join us. (they live out of state) I love having 5 sisters...everyone should be so lucky!

I'm just moving so slow this month, I can't believe it. I've got a million things I want to get accomplished during September, and it's not going to happen if I don't pick up the pace.
I started a little of my fall decorating tonight...very little. Hopefully, I'll have more luck tomorrow.

I think I've pretty much decided on the paint colors, and hopefully, the wallpaper that I want in the livingroom and kitchen. We're going to go this weekend, and get the wallpaper. I'm going to repaint my kitchen cabinets, (gasp) so I need to start taking off doors and sanding. I have LOVED my red cabinets, but it's time for a change, so I'm going white.

I think I've reached a point in my life, where I crave change. In myself, my surroundings, my attitude, the way I treat myself, and have let others treat me. I'm standing up for myself more, trying anyway, and it feels pretty good to get my own way.
