Favorite Things Friday

I LOVE Law and Order...all of them! I would like to see a special 'Law and Order Only' channel on tv. Ninety nine percent of the tv watching I do, is this show. I have even watched the same episode more than once in the same day! I know, I'm a junkie...but I don't want to be cured!

Here are some more random favorites of mine.

I think I'm helping the M&M's company stay in business! I really love the special pink ones...they match my kitchen!

I couldn't even begin to guess how many times I've seen these movies...they are my all-time, number one favorite movies.

Love my computer, could not live without it. And I love blogging...and visiting all the beautiful blogs out there.

Call me crazy, but I just love this stuff! I don't eat it often, but lately, I'm really hooked!
Hope your weekend is wonderful!

Trick or Treat!

Just one, please.

Funky Chandelier

I found a couple of these fun, round frames at the thrift store.

So I painted this one, and added vintage wallpaper, some ribbon, flowers, and a few other fun things.

I found this funky led light at Ikea last week. I forgot to take a before pic. This is not normally my style, but I thought I could have some fun with it. So I wrapped it with tulle and beads, then added some roses and vintage crystals. Now, I have a funky 'chandelier'.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

My Symphony

To live content with small means;
To seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion;
To be worthy, not respectable;
and wealthy, not rich;
To study hard,
think quietly,
talk gently,
act frankly;
To listen to stars and birds,
To babes and sages, with open heart,
to bear all cheerfully,
do all bravely,
await occasions,
hurry never.
...To let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.

I Am So Blessed

As I sit here, the yummy smell of country ribs simmering in barbeque sauce on the stove, I am once again reminded of how much I love fall. When the weather starts turning cool, and the leaves change and fall from the trees, I feel an overwhelming desire to hunker down, and enjoy being at home. This time of year, makes me want to cook, bake, and get everything clean for the winter months to come.

I have also been giving alot of thought lately, to how very blessed I am. I have a wonderful husband, who works so hard to take care of me, and provides us with a comfortable home and the things we need, and want. I know he loves me, though sometimes, I honestly wonder why.
We have been blessed with four beautiful children, who make me laugh and bring me so much joy. They are my greatest blessing.
My two dog babies, Sugar and Molly, are a constant source of happiness for me. They have so much unconditional love.
I am also blessed to have a BIG family...brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. I don't see or talk to them nearly enough, and that makes me sad. I love them all so much and am so grateful for each and every one of them.
And my dad, I am so grateful for that man. He just never stops giving, and taking care of his family. I love him so much.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stanger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. --Melody Beattie

So Pretty!

I just had to share these beautiful crocheted doilies that arrived this morning, from Katie's Rose Cottage. They're so pretty, they make me happy!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Happy Birthday Travis!

This is my son Travis. He is number three, of our four children. We had the family together tonight, to celebrate his birthday...he turns 25 tomorrow. I just can't believe how fast the time is going by.

Let me tell thee, time is a very precious gift of God;
so precious that it's only given to us moment by moment.

Favorite Things Friday

I know, I'm late...but here goes.

Okay, so one of my favorite things is barns. I'm not sure why, but I am just really fascinated with them. There is something about them that is just so interesting and beautiful.

I have often thought that it would be fun to live on a farm, gather eggs, wear an apron, and bake homemade bread all day.

All of our beds would be covered with quilts that I had made, and there would be extras in the cupboard for especially cold nights.

There would be a big vegetable garden, and lots of fruit trees. And every year, we would gather in the orchard and garden to harvest the fruits of our labor. Then I would bottle/can everything to add to the food pantry for the winter.

I'd pick fresh apples, bake a pie, and let it cool on the window sill.

Hmmmm, maybe that's why I like barns so much.

Yesterday & Today

Yesterday, was a great day! My sister Cindy, took me to lunch and then we hit up the thrift store. Here are some of my fun finds...picture frames...

pretty candle holders...

some funky jewelry...

a cute pink vase...

a fun little cabinet...

look at this pretty dish, I LOVE it...

and a pretty rose clock for my livingroom.
Then, we went to visit my neice and nephew, Janene and Joey. They just bought a very nice, new home. I'm so excited for them...and it was really fun to see them again.
After that, Cindy took me for my first visit to Ikea. Wow! That's a really cool place...lots of fun things! While we were there, I bought a fun, kind of funky thing. I'm going to dress it up, and then I'll post a picture of it.
I always have so much fun when Cindy and I get together. She's my favorite shopping and hangin' out buddy. Thanks for a fun day Cindy! I love you!
Today, my clear glass knobs from Katie's Rose Cottage came. I'm so excited! I'm going to put them on my newly painted kitchen cabinets. Hopefully, I'll be done with my livingroom/kitchen project soon. Then I'll post some pictures.

I hope everybody is having a great week so far!
Don't you just love this fall weather?

Wallpaper Fun

I couldn't wait to do something with the pretty wallpapers I got today. So I did a little playing in my room this afternoon. I painted this fun metal basket, covered it with some vintage sheet music, and added some flowers that I cut from the wallpaper. Then I decoupaged the whole thing.
I'm pleased with the way it turned out...it's hanging in my 'new' livingroom.

Wallpaper Surprise

I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this beautiful packet of vintage wallpapers from Pretty Petals Boutique. And today, it came!! I'm so excited!!

These papers are so pretty...I had to take a few close up shots.

I can't wait to use them in some special projects.

Happy Birthday Brand!

This is my oldest son, Brand. We had the family here today to celebrate his birthday. On Thursday the 16th, he turned 35!! How the heck did that happen????
Oh, I'm getting soooooooo old!

Treasure this day,
and treasure yourself.
Truly neither will ever
happen again.

Happy Day

We spent our final night of the season at the cabin last night. Today, we got it ready for winter, and closed it up. We already had snow up there a week ago, so it was time.

Most of the leaves have fallen from the trees and it's looking pretty bare up there.

After leaving the cabin, we stopped at my favorite antique shop in Midway, for one last shopping trip. I found a few pretty linen pieces, two pairs of earrings, and some vintage post cards.

I scanned the post cards, so those of you who may be interested in using them in your artwork, are welcome to do so.

Tonight, Drew took me out to dinner for my birthday, (not actually celebrating it, hoping I won't age anymore) and we decided to take Brand and Travis (sons) with us, since it is their birthdays too.
It was a great day!
Hope everybody is having a great weekend!
