A New Year Wish

I wish you a year filled with love
and laughter...a year of simple pleasures
and peaceful enjoyment.
Happy New Year!

One Little Word

I can't believe another year is almost over. I'm not sure exactly when or how the change happened, but I know that when I was younger, the days and years were much longer than they are now. ;)

Like every year, I have thought about setting goals for the new year. I think however, like every year, I will not. I will simply try to do better.

But, I have once again, chosen one little word to help inspire me in my daily life. My word for 2009 is PASSION. (no, not THAT kind! hehe) I will try to approach everything I do with passion. Even the most mundane, can be accomplished with greater ease, if we can find something in it to be excited about. If you would like to know more about one little word, go here or here.

I wish you all the best in 2009...
may you find joy in the simple, everyday.

A Year In Review

This is the photo I used in the very first post on my blog, in July of this year. My studio has undergone a few changes since then.

I'm participating in 'A Year in Review' hosted by Cindy of My Romantic Home. Here are some of my favorite photos that have made their way into my blog posts this year.

It's been really fun having my blog. I've met some very talented and creative women. The support and positive feedback among bloggers is very reassuring in these times of such uncertainty. I hope to make many wonderful new friends through my blog. I appreciate those of you who have visited, and all of your sweet comments.
Wishing all of you a wonderful and prosperous New Year!

White Christmas

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas...we did. We spent the morning exchanging gifts with our children, then did some visiting in the afternoon.

We've had alot of snow this last week, I think close to a foot. It snowed all morning on Christmas day...so fun to have a truly white Christmas.

I've been puttering around the house the last couple of days, trying to get things straightened up from the big day. Haven't taken down any decorations yet, not quite ready, but I think it will probably be soon.

Hope you have a wonderful, restful Sunday!

A Christmas Wish

Hi, I'm Sugar...

...and I'm Molly.
We just wanted to wish everybody a Merry Christmas!
p.s. please don't tell our mom that we were on her computer

Merry Christmas!

I've decided to take a break from blogging to finish getting ready for Christmas, and spend time with my family.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas. I hope your holiday is filled with peace and love, and the joy of family and friends.

Merry Christmas!

Another Day...More Shopping...

...will it ever end?

We did have another party tonight though...this time at my sil's house. Good food, fun game, and lots of enjoyable visiting time.

For me, that's when it really starts feeling like Christmas...when the party's begin and we're spending time with family.

Hope your holiday season is filled with fun!

Holiday Fun

Today was a really busy day. Dh and I went out for awhile to do more Christmas shopping, and some grocery shopping.

Then we went to my sister Cindy's lovely home for our annual family Christmas party. It was great! I always enjoy seeing my family, and having my little sister Lori and her son here, from Colorado, was especially fun!

We had a great time playing charades, visiting, and of course, the highlight was the chocolate fountain. Yummy!!

Hope you're having a wonderful holiday filled with good times!

Oh, The Weather Outside Is Frightful!

I am SO glad I didn't have anywhere to go today because it snowed like crazy! I'm pretty sure we got at least six inches.

It was fun to watch from inside a nice warm house though.

I've spent the whole day baking and I'm still not finished. Getting close. I only bake once a year, at Christmas time, so I really enjoy it.

Tomorrow night, we have our family Christmas party at my sister Cindy's house. I'm getting excited because my little sister Lori and her son are flying in from Colorado tonight. Spending time with family is my favorite part of the season.
I better get back to my baking! Have a great weekend!

Christmas Baking

I ventured out into the cold today, to pick up everything for my Christmas baking. I've been wrestling with myself the last week over whether or not to do it this year, I've been so tired. But, I know that if I don't, I'll regret it later.

So tonight, I started easy with some sheet cookies. Tomorrow, will be the baking marathon. I can't wait!

But for now, I'm feeling kind of tired and lazy, so I'm going to sit in my big cozy chair, with this cup of hot chocolate and watch House.
As we rapidly approach the BIG day, don't forget to take care of yourself, avoid stress, and have a good time!

Are You Ready For This?

I decided to spend the day getting everything clean and shiny for Christmas, so I was thinking I didn't have anything to blog about today...especially after the excitement of Heather's Pretty Little Christmas party yesterday. And then it dawned on me...show them the bathroom! lol

So here are my simple decorations in the room my husband calls my 'office'.

The throne.

After cleaning all day, I decided to do something fun and wrap presents. I'm pluggin' along, but slowly and surely, I will be ready for Christmas!
Heather (Pretty Petals) did a great job on the Christmas blog party! Go and check it out.
Have a wonderful week!

A Pretty Little Christmas

Welcome to my home! I'm so excited to be participating in Heather's 'Pretty Little Christmas' Blog Party!

I didn't get as much decorating done this year as I usually do, but I had alot of fun with it because this is my first year decorating in PINK!

My tree is decorated in white and pink, and topped with a glittery snowman hat that I made. I got the idea from a Joli Paquet tutorial.

Candles are a must, especially at Christmas time. I love to sit in my livingroom at night and enjoy the tree lights and the glow of the candles.

My favorite teddy bear sits by the tree.

I collect nativities, and this is one of my favorites.

I thought I would share my all-time favorite Christmas recipe with you. When I was a child, my mother made Rosettes at Christmas-time, and now I make them for the family.

1 cup milk

1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

3 T. sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cardamom

1 1/2 cups flour

2 eggs, lightly beaten

2 qts canola oil

confectioners' sugar for sprinkling

1. Pour milk into a small bowl, and add the seeds scraped from the vanilla bean. Whisk to combine. In a medium bowl, combine sugar, salt, cardamom, and flour. Add eggs, alternating with milk. Whisk until smooth, and thick. Let stand at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight.

2. Heat oil in a four-quart saucepan over medium-high heat until a deep-frying thermometer registers 375 degrees.

3. Attach rosette iron to handle. Carefully dip iron into oil for 2 to 3 minutes. Blot with paper towel. Always remember to heat rosette iron before dipping into batter.

4. Dip hot iron into batter up to the top edge; do not allow batter to coat the top.

Submerge iron in oil, and cook rosette until lightly browned. Remove iron from oil, and gently remove rosette, using a fork if necessary. If rosette pops out of the iron and falls into the oil, use tongs to retrieve it.

5. Drain rosettes on paper towels. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar before serving.

Enjoy! I think I'm going to go get me a couple of rosettes with a cup of hot chocolate, and enjoy the lights.

Thanks for stopping by.

I wish you a very Pretty Little Christmas!

Today, We Woke Up To...

And a pretty good amount of it too! It never really feels quite like Christmas until we get snow.

So, dh and I spent the day out shopping...until our feet were aching. I don't think I could ever live in a warm climate because I'm always more in the mood for Christmas shopping when it snows.

Happy Christmas shopping to you!

Movie Time

There are some things that I cannot go through the Christmas holiday without, and watching this movie is one of those things.

So, I'm going to pay a couple of bills, ugh, and then hunker down with a big cup of hot chocolate, complete with candy cane, and enjoy some wonderful Christmas spirit.

I hope you are doing whatever it is that makes you happy for the holidays!

Have Fun!

I just want to share a quote that I found tonight on this lovely blog - Restyled Home.

If you never did you should.

These things are fun

and fun is good.

--Dr Seuss

I hope everyone is having a fun week!

My Studio

I've been moving things around in my studio. It always feels so good to get everything cleaned up and reorganized.

My paper racks, that my wonderful dh built me, sit under my work table.

Now that I've got everything all cleaned up, I need to get creating and make another mess!
