Reality Shot: Island Disaster

My favorite thing about my little, tiny kitchen
is my BIG island.

At 4' x 7', it is perfect for everything from baking
to cutting fabric.

It is also perfect for collecting CLUTTER.

Mail coming in, mail going out, phones getting charged,
and groceries STILL waiting, for days, to be put away.

The worst part? It's actually pretty tame right now.

I'm joining Claudia at Mockingbird Hill Cottage.

Oh boy, Debi, I totally understand! Islands tend to work like magnets, don't they? Ours is often cluttered, as well. Between the island and the kitchen table, clutter abounds! I love your reality shots this week.

Is that applesauce or pudding? Just go ahead and open one up and snack away!

I don't think it's too bad, but I understand about a samll kitchen. There never is enough space to stash things and therefore clutter abounds! Love your jars in the middle, so pretty. Ann

I don't have an island but we have the higher double counter top that is a peninsula....my husband LOVES to load it up with everything and anything...it is a constant battle to keep it clear!

Hi Debi,
I have a kitchen counter that just seems to attract all kinds of mess like this, and no matter how often I clear it away it's always a cluttered space.

Uuuu, look at those Mott Apple sauce with whatever (Kiwi I guess) things. I love them, had them for lunch at my homestay mum's in Halifax. I'm glad you didn't put them in the fridge right away. Wonderful memories coming up.

Reality Shot! Ha!
that is such a cute idea...but honestly, I'm such a neat freak and clutter freak, like I go mental if the pillows are dishevelled on the sofa!!!!!....my 'reality' wouldn't be that shocking.

I do have a problem keeping up with the dusting and polishing aspect however!

I'm hosting a

F L A S H G I V E A W A Y today.....one day only to enter your comment(s).....I do hope you'll swing by and play!

ciao bella

All my kitchen island needs is good oiling on its butcher block top! I must take everything off soon and work on that.............or perhaps tile it some day like yours which looks great!

Happy Reality Thursday

Hi Debi, Oh yours looks good, I have one of those dreaded Islands too! I love it when baking, but mine gets covered all the time. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Terri

I don't have an island, so stuff gets dumped on the table (see 1st Reality Shot). Like your pretty glass jars. Love, Linda

Doesn't look that bad to me, Debi! (Guess that means mine looks about the same!) My island is pretty big--so is the collection (i.e. clutter) that resides their most of the time! What can you do?!

Hope your weekend is wonderful, my friend!

...Debi, that's not too bad... really... you should see my kitchen counter! lately, it's been the dumping group for unfinished projects or items to be packaged and mailed. A big fat mess!
