Busy with Swaps

Well, here we go again! A loooong time between posts.

During the month of October, I was hosting a month long
birthday celebration in the Marie Antoinette Mail Art group,
and that kept me pretty busy, and doing lots of creating.

I thought I would share all the fun swaps that kept me busy.

Happy Birthday Marie ATC's

Marie's Lacy Cuff Bracelet

Marie's Birthday Cake Box

Celebration Cake Topper

Altered Spoon

It was a busy month, but so much fun!

Right now, like many of you, I'm busy cleaning, and preparing for Thanksgiving.
I love gathering around the table with my family and enjoying a meal together.

I'm wanting to pull out the Christmas tree, and start decorating.
I'm going to try a simple, rustic look this Christmas,
and I'm just too excited to wait until after Thanksgiving.

Wishing you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

My Favorite Time of Year

Bridal Veil Falls

Without a doubt, Fall is my most favorite time of the year.

I love the beautiful, vibrant colors the season brings....

....the crisp chill in the air that brings out the sweaters and jackets....

....warm socks, and a big mug of hot chocolate....

....a big pot of soup on the stove....

....the rustling of the fallen leaves as I walk through them....

....bringing out the quilts and throws for the couches....

....and snuggling under a warm blanket while watching TV.

All of the photos in this post were taken in Provo Canyon
and American Fork Canyon, in the beautiful state of Utah,
where I live, by my sweet neighbor friend, Debbie.

(Thank you Debbie for letting me share your beautiful photos.)

I hope Fall is as beautiful wherever you are, as it is here in Utah.

It's Been So Long!

Did you ever have something you loved doing so much,
that you missed it when you couldn't do it?

And then, life got so busy you couldn't do it
for a long period of time, and when you finally
had the time again, you wondered if you even
wanted to do it anymore?

That's where I've been with my blog.

This has been the craziest, busiest summer ever!

Many, many trips to our family cabin. Some with my sisters,
and others with my hubby. Every trip was wonderful
and fun, but have left me utterly exhausted.

I have thought many times over the last three months
about posting to my blog, but just didn't have the time or energy.
And then, the more time that passed, the harder it got.

The energy thing is still a work in progress, but it's getting better.

A few weeks ago, I took on another big project that I'm almost finished with now.

After one of my sons moved into his own place, I gained
a second room for my crafting. With little thought and
planning, I attempted to turn it into a sewing room.

That didn't work.

For two years now, I've been trying to make that space work for me.
But since my rooms are on different floors in the house,
I was doing more running up and down stairs than creating.

Feeling defeated and totally bummed, I finally gave up
on the idea of having two rooms, and started thinking
about how I could fit everything back into one room.

And then it hit me......right between the eyes!

Sewing is only a small part of my crafting, and doesn't
work in a room of its own.

Before I got really involved in crafting, my room was a scraproom.
Over the years, my scrapbooking supplies have been shoved into boxes
and put in my closet, making it difficult to scrapbook.

So, for the last month, I've been packing supplies up and down
the stairs, and setting up my new scraproom.

It never fails, when I am the most tired, that seems to be when I start the biggest
projects. But, I'm really excited about finally figuring out my spaces.

I hope you have all had a wonderful and exciting summer!

I will be back soon.

My Studio

I love my creative space. I'm talkin' LOVE.

It's my escape.....my joy.....my link to sanity.

It's my favorite place to be, and I spend a lot of time here.

I do my creating at a large stand-up height table that my hubby built for me.
It makes it easier to move around the room to access my supplies, and
it's easier to see what I'm doing when looking straight down on it.

My sweet little (116 lb) Molly likes to keep me company.

My sweet, chippy, squeaky old chair is where I spend a lot of time, lost in blogland.

I love working with pretty papers, laces, ribbons, flowers, and bling.
And sewing with pretty fabrics and lace has become one of my favorite things to do.

Every day includes at least a small amount of time creating.

I love being surrounded by the beautiful creations I've received from friends,
as well as many of my supplies. It helps get my creative juices going.

I'm so happy you visited my studio today. I'm joining
Karen's 'Where Bloggers Create' party.

The party officially begins this Saturday, the 14th,
but I'm posting early because I'm taking off with my sister,
for a week of crafting at the cabin.

Check out Karen's blog for the list of other participants.

Have a sweet, creative week!

Welcome to our Cabin

I've been spending a lot of time at our cabin this summer,
and recently had a request from sweet friend Elyse, for some pics.

So, I took some this week.

At less than 800 square feet, our tiny cabin is located
in the beautiful hills of Midway, Utah.

It was built more than 40 years ago, by my hubby and his dad.

Several years ago, we inherited the cabin from his parents,
and have slowly been working at making it our own.

It is a hodgepodge of new pieces, old pieces, cast offs from home,
and anything else I think to add to the mix. And, we love it.

It's a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle
of everyday life and responsibilities.

There is no phone to ring, and no solicitors visit our door.

In a few days, one of my sisters and I are going back
for a week of jammies and crafting. I can't wait!!

I hope you will come back and see me, well, my blog,
this Saturday, the 14th for Karen's 'Where Bloggers Create' party.

I won't be home, but my post will be here. And when I get back,
I'll be visiting all those beautiful studios for inspiration.

Hope you're having a beautiful summer!
